  • I personally think the longer you have had Vitiligo the more lesson's you have learned from it, because the longer you have lived on this earth, the more experiences you will have had with it does anybody else agree with me here? would a 20 year old with Vitiligo have learned more lesson's than a 100 year old person with Vitiligo ? No but we all have our stories to tell don't we ??????????????????????????

  • as far as lessons learned.... probably none. It has taught me alot about myself though. I don't like the idea of people reacting to me a certain way because they see vitiligo, but i would be lying if i said i dont judge some people by how they present themselves. And then off course there is thge romance aspect... i like the content of charecter comment, but if you like someones charecter but have 0 sexual attraction to this person, a monogamous relationship would be impossible in the long run. Not for everyone off course, but for me... absolutly. So it's nice to think that some people dont care what you look like, but the reality is that some people do. I'm one of them, and unashamed to admit it.
  • I've learned not to wear my vit. To me its invisible. My friends see right past it. If I wear my vit I may as well put on my pity suit, feel sorry for myself and dig a hole to hide in. Life is too short. I'm livin' life and walking to the light.
  • I must say that as a Black woman...I've always rebeled against what others adhered to as "beautiful", but since I've had vit, I'm sure I would be classified as a zealot (lol)..shoot, we all would! I've learned that if I adorn & carry myself like the child of God & Queen that HE ordained to be.....others will eventually come that conclusion, regardless of spots.
On the lighter side of things, I treat my spots/patches like glorious clouds & see what animal shapes I can find (lol)....so far there's a rabit, frog, butterfly & Mickey Mouse
  • I didn't learn a "lesson", it has affected profoundly how I perceive the world, after years of living with vitiligo there have been too many experiences good and bad that have had an impact in myself.
  • Wow I actually thought the same thing myself,I guess great minds think alike :-)

  • I've learned strength. Not just anybody can deal with this condition and deal with it as beautifully as many of us ( of y'all!) do. I've learned that it's not as big as it seems. Many days I just stared at my body wishing it would go away, only to have someone else compliment me and say it's cool (it has happened, especially with the spots on my head that make my strands of hair white), that it gives character. I've learned that I can help spread the word, whenever someone makes an ignorant comment that I can correct, clarify and even tell them more this condition. I've learned that at the end of the day those who should be, who need to be in our lives will be there regardless of what we look like.
    • Well said, I like that!
  • In all things, give thanks to God!
  • Not to judge a book by the cover ;-)
