So this basically means that any possible cure is going to have to start with the immune system and not the skin. because when the immune system in the human body is not functioning properly it causes other underlying conditions which in turn effect the pigmentation production in the skin. So before you go out spending money on a treatment that you think will cure Vitiligo make sure you start with a treatment that repairs the human immune system and since no such treatment or cure has been invented yet your taking a chance with a treatment that would bring pigmentatuion back without first repairing the immune system. Once the immune system is fixed our ability to re-pigment should work again like it did before our Vitiligo but too many people focus on treating the skin when it's the immune system that causes the skin to lose it's color in the first place

Yes in deed Leslie, I was told the same thing but so many people are trying to cure their Vitiligo with creams, light treatments, etc. but it's not getting to the root of the matter and that's our immune system and until we can fix that there will be no cure for vitiligo only temporary cures or cures that are Physcosematic (all in the mind)
Thanks for that, Carl!
I try not to sound like a total debbie downer when I speak about my desire to depigment as opposed to seeking treatment, but what you just posted sums up my sentiments in a nutshell. Thankfully my new doc politely nodded and smiled when I pointed out that which was all ready obvious to him- no cream is going to fix this, so why waste my time and money? And even if the latest and greatest in repigmentation works, there's no permanent guarantee. The call is coming from inside the building!
Even once I depigment, I will still do whatever I can to help find a cure. I'll participate in studies that try to find the origin of the disease and donate to the cause, because heaven knows this may be purely genetic. If I can help break the cycle within my generation, I'll be thrilled! Until then, I'm keeping a close eye on my thyroid and *loving* that more brands sell SPF100 sunblock.
