I’ve had vitiligo for years and I’ve tried just about everything but I’ve never really stuck to anything consistently. The only thing that gave me real results was Protopic 0.1 percent ointment along with a handheld UVB lamp I bought online. I only used it on my face because it is expensive but on my face it came back 100 percent. Full skin tone no patches it actually worked.
The problem is I don’t have insurance so everything is out of pocket. Protopic costs around 300 dollars for just 30 grams so I had to make it last by using it only on my face. I work nights and sleep during the day so I don’t get a lot of sun. That’s why I started taking vitamin D 50000 IU and a bunch of other supplements. I’ve been really consistent with those over the last few years even though I’ve slacked off on everything else.
I also have a nickel allergy so I can’t wear watches rings or anything unless it’s gold. I can wear copper though and I’ve noticed that when I wear copper bracelets I get freckles on my hands but those freckles are actually my skin pigmentation coming back so I like them. I always lose the bracelets or they break probably because I buy the cheap ones online with the clip on backs.
A while back I had a motorcycle accident and broke my femur. They put a metal rod in my leg that wasn’t titanium and it caused constant itching and blistering mostly on my legs and arms. I scratched so much I basically took off all my natural skin tone in those areas. Once I was finally able to afford getting that rod removed the itching and blisters stopped almost immediately.
Lately I’ve started noticing white patches coming back on my forehead right at the hairline and also on my chin and mustache area. I’m almost positive that the chin and mustache spots are from using a regular shaver. I think I’ve been shaving off my natural skin. That’s why I switched to an electric razor instead.
About a month ago I started using a generic version of Protopic called Advaita Traderma Tacrolimus 1 percent. It’s thinner than the original more like a Vaseline texture but I’m giving it a try since it’s easier to get and way cheaper.
I’ve been slacking for a while but I’m trying to get back into a routine. Still taking my supplements daily using the cream before bed and using the UVB lamp at least every other day on my face. Just sharing in case anyone out there is dealing with something similar.
First, I would like to suggest Ayurveda treatments.
it is able to control vitiligo and if we getting Ayurveda treatment in the beginning stage, we can control it completely.
