unfortunately i have both vitiligo and plaque psoriasis. im curious to know if anyone on here has both as well. i am going back and forth between two different forums and its getting annoying --.-- well if annyone out there shares the same problems here is the link to the website http://www.talkpsoriasis.org/ its one of the few p. forums that have helped out
My 8 year old has both. His psoriasis is on his elbows and a little on his knees. He also has halo nevi and some other autoimmune stuff going on. Awhile back we started eating very healthy. Grilled chicken, veggies, fruit for the whole house hold. Suddenly it cleared up. So we had Dylan go gluten free. It seems to make a huge difference in his psoriasis. You can barely see it. If we slack on his diet, it seems to flare back up. Drs said if its working, keep him on it. :)
Toni, Its worth a try. You could start by making small changes and adding news food here and there. Its not as hard as most people think. We are not the eat natural nothing tastes good kinda people. Trust me!!!!! I have found tons of yummy things that fit our taste buds and are Gluten Free. Here are some of our favs. GF Tinkyada pasta tastes awesome, we use it alot! Dylan likes it better than regular noodles. You can make the noodles a ton of GF ways. Spagetti w homemade meatballs, alfredo, veggies w olive oil, mac n cheese/can add hamburger, chicken teriyaki n veggies, and on and on. You dont miss out on any yummy pasta dishes. We also grill alot of meat. Shishkabobs w white rice, chicken, steak, hotdogs wo buns, you name it...We always have fruit, veggies, potatoes or salad as a side. We love stuffed green peppers, ground beef, white rice and sauce. Gluten free Betty crocker brownies, cookies and cake, yum! Alot of lays potato chips are GF too. All french fries, tator tots and hashbrown brands. GF chocolate chip pancake mix is a big fav. Especially with bacon and hashbrowns! GF Cinnimon Chex cereal is awesome! Fruit cups and salads are great for packing lunches. So many of what I call "normal choices" you could start with. GF does raise cost of groceries if you are buying organic GF products, but if you stick common brands that happen to be GF is lowers costs. Especially with a family of 7. Many brands are available. We do both. I find it most difficult when we go out to eat. We pack a cooler on the go and try to cook when we can, but alot of places have GF menus now. Let me know if you give it a go! :)
