I just came back yesterday from a two day trip to Universal studios in Orlando. I bought a two park, 2 day pass. The first day, the park tried to scan my fingerprints for ID purposes and after trying 3 different fingers could not. The second day, they tried again and could not. However, my two sons and husband were scanned quickly both days and with no problems.

I am now wondering whether my Vitiligo which I also have on my fingertips somehow prevented the scanning. As anyone one else had this happen to them or have heard of this happening to someone else?

  • I would have to say this is related to your vitiligo. I work in the healthcare field and every other year, we are required to have our fingerprints scanned for background checks and mine are always hard to read. The scanner picks up the spots, so where there would be lines to indicate your unique pattern ours are broken lines where the spots are. I would not have believed this had I not seen it for myself. Needless to say, my scans take way longer than others.
  • Not to me either Nelly - sounds like something fresh out of the Jason Bourne Trilogy :-)
  • wow... thats interesting. i'd like to know also if that has ever happened to anyone else b4.
