Hiya, i have been told by a dermatologist, that i shouldn't put sunblock on my lips, that is where the vitilgo is. He said if you are dark skinned you don't need the sunblock. I don't know what to believe, i have been told  different things. I think the sun does help a bit to repigment.

I know dark-skinned people, including blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and Native Americans, naturally produce more of a chemical called melanin, which gives the skin color and absorbs the sun’s damaging ultraviolet (UV) rays. I also know dark-skinned blacks have a natural skin protection factor (SPF) of up to 13, and filter twice as much UV radiation as fair-skinned people. How much factor show one use?

Would like opinions from anybody regarding this issue.

  • All skin shades are funny. I went to the beach 3 months ago nd have a tan line still on my back. Nd im black. Full pigmented in the area of the scorch
  • I don't think this doctor was correct. You have said you have vitiligo there. Enough said. Once youve stated that, dark skin is no longer a factor nd niether is ethnicity. It all depends on genetics. Your DNA. Try the no sunblock for a week. If you don't burn then don't use it. If its hot as hell fire use it
