Sumary:
Triamcinolone acetonide 3 mg/mL was aspirated into a 3-mL syringe and a 30-gauge ½-inch needle was attached. The needle was passed through the skin at a 45-degree angle, targeting the superficial and deep dermis at multiple sites. Injections were spaced 0.5 cm apart within the lesion all the way up to the edge of the lesion. At each site, 0.05 to 0.1 mL of triamcinolone acetonide was injected. The syringe was shaken every minute to ensure uniform suspension. The maximum volume injected in one visit was 15 mL. Hemostasis was achieved with gauze compression. Treatments were repeated every 4 to 6 weeks as needed.
