Hello everyone, my daughter is 9 yrs old she got diagnosed with Vitiligo at the age of 7. She has been using the creams Elidel and Pro-topic as well. It is bringing her color black in some spots but not doing as well as I would hope. Her doctor is suggesting some UV cream that she will have to sit in the sun for a brief time. Has anyone tried this? Any treatments that help bring back the color? Any suggestions are welcomed.

Hi, I never heard that, but few months ago, my doctor suggest me to take laser treatment on my vitiligo.
but after that he cancel that and ask me to consistently do NB UVB.. Maybe because both laser and NB UVB can't promise 100% cure. Laser treatment is much more expensive than UVB, and we aren't allowed to get direct sunlight for 5 days after that. Laser treatment also a repetitive treatment, which means we should do that in every one or two months.
Hi, I'm new in this website. I had vitiligo on my face for more than a year.
I have been taking NB UVB, protopic, and b-complex vit.
I think there is no result in this treatment, but I always try to do the best.
o yeah, I also drink some green juice every morning (Cale, spinach, carrot, green apple, etc)..
My uncle who also had vitiligo, showing good progress on his white patches after take NB UVB.
so, I think every treatment give different results on each person..
O yeah, my doctor said: better not to expose your vitiligo under the sun, because we can't control it. Better use NB UVB. Nowadays, sunlight is dangerous for our skin, its different from 20 years ago when ozone layer still good.
I used Elidel and didn't seem any effects. Elidel only works in conjunction with phototherapy. You can buy narrow band uvb lights on ebay for 250 and do the phototherapy sessions at home. I recommend that over sitting in the sun since you can't control the tanning in the sun. With the uvb light you can shine it on the area that needs treatment.
We have used protopic successfully on my daughters face. I quit trying everywhere else. I think what your dr means to say is use the protopic and then sit in the sun for a few minutes. The uv rays combined with the protopic can help bring back color.
Hi, to everybody, don't expose skin on any kind uv-rays while u have the protopic on you, it's not advisable and it can bring burn or strange reactions of the skin. combination of protopic and uv-rays doesn't not mean that, it means having uvb sessions and afterward apply the protopic on skin
Thanks for your reply Becki, we use protopic and Elidel on her face and it seems to do the trick. The cream for her body is a different cream. She suggested my daughter do the UV light treatment but our insurance doesn't pay for it. However, they do pay for the cream that does the same as the UV light, but she has to sit in the sun to activate it.

Have you looked into a treatment called excimer laser? I have heard if narrowband UVB does not work excimer laser will do a better job.
