I always wondered if my Vitiligo is some sort of cancer or even some sort of death fatal disease. I have come to find out that it is hereditary and both sides of my family have Vitiligo.  Some have been born and some later have developed this symptom. I am from California and am currently in central Texas and have been here and living with vitiligo for about the 23 years when I had never knew what the summer was like here in Texas and humidity.  I remember doing the lawn about just enough to get a very good sunburn.  I then remembered a small white spot on my right knuckle later turned into a wide spread of a different pigment.  I am still looking like a macadamian cookie so my daughter states lol as we play around or the Dog SPOT so she claims.  Well we are that crazy Family but like to get on one another's nerves.  Anyways I do now apply 100 SPF sunblock when out in the heat and do at times see redness where areas I do not apply but for the years I have been living with Vit  I have not noticed any new areas just continues to spread with the ones already developed.  My last thing I would like to mention is I remember my dermatologist saying that at some point in life if not addressing this symptom may cause blindness or also fatal and in the past I have met three people two have past and one is Blind but the other two were and are elderly but can also remember that Alcoholic (Liquor) was a big factor on the others. My Uncle on my mothers side does use Alcoholic beverages a lot and all his body is 100 percent

Vit . Last note is I always wonder living in Texas I see a lot of animal life and notice a lot of animals with different patches and wonder if they too have vitaligo and I am related but then again it may just be a Funny Fact.
