I'm not saying that the lighter skinned people suffer less from the effects of vitiligo because it's equally as devastating to them, I'm just saying that the darker your skin color is the more noticable your skin is when you have vitiligo and this is something that I and others have noticed because of the contrasting issues involved with vitiligo. I have been in situations where people noticed I had vitiligo from a distance, but with lighter skinned people with vitiligo they went almost un-noticed or you almost had to walk up on them face to face to notice it

See how fair skinned the person is in the picture above you can see their vitiligo but because of the skin color the contrast is not that bad their vitiligo is not as immediately noticable

And if you look at the other picture above you will notice a darker skinned person and because of the skin color the contrast is much greater and makes the vitiligo more noticable

  • I swear I have seen this argument played out here some time before...
    • Yes it has because I bought it up in a previous discussion here on vitiligo friends

  • it just makes it more noticeable. but whether other people see it our not, it's still majorly stressful.
i dont think we need to be playing "my stress is worse cause my Vit's more noticeable.". black, brown or tan with white spots, we all are afraid of the same stigma, and we're all in the same boat. Please dont try to make several little boats for us to suffer in separately..

this is like blacks, latinos and amerindians vying for who is the most hated by teaparty republicans.
