Just wondering what amount of daily sunlight light do any of you get and what is recommended for helping repigment Vitiligo. As an example do you sit out in the sun for 20 min everyday? I know I have read that some countries only prescibe sunlight as therapy.

William, from what I know, getting the right type of sunlight is very tricky. You have to be in the sun at the times when the rays contain UVB rays, otherwise all you get are the harmful sun rays that do nothing for Vitiligo and do extensive damage to the skin. There is information available (I don't remember the source now) that tells you for each part of the US, the months and the times of the months UVB rays are available in the sunlight. So be careful.
NB-UVB lights are the most convenient way to get the type of sunlight one needs.
I get 10 to 15 min a day depending on how strong the sun feels each day. I live in CT so I am really only able to do this May through Aug. mostly...... because otherwise its too cold.
Apart from skipping midday sun there are many factors which determine how long we should stay on the sun like latitude (Distance from equator) ; altitude (how high from Sea leavel) and which month of the year and time.
According to most climate therapists..we should stay 15 minuts each side of our body totally maximum 1 hour .
The most important ting is not to burn skin truma can activate vitiligo, moderate sun is very important for us there are many who skip the sun totally, that is wrong.
I have repigmented in Deadsea..sun is the best to stimulate melanocytes…
The best sun ever for vitiligo is in the place under sea leavel like Deadsea, stay around any beach and get sun is beneficial …most beaches are located on the sea level sun is not so strong like on the mountain,
Bamsegutt, I am assuming 1 hr max each day without sun lotion? I am going to the beach I plan on getting there and laying without sun lotion for maybe 30 min then applying sun lotion for the rest of the day. I also go under an umbrella some not because of vit. because I hate getting so hot!
Thanks to both of you for your answers. What I started today was 30 min in the AM with no sunblock on. I am in Pa and the sun is not super hot early in the day like Miami. I was off work today so I normal not have 30 min in morning so the days I work maybe I will do 15 min.

I sunbathe 20-30 minutes. For over a month. It helps me. In my white patches are more and more dots of pigment. I take too Ginkgo (2x80 mg)

Sun has both affect for some vitis it is a trigger for other it is a best treatment ,good that you brough this topic.

Have you tried melagenina in Cuba? why don`t you use high suncream and enjoy the sun.
