  • Well I just came back from a 6 day vacation in Playa Del Carmen Cancun. It’s the middle of July so you can just imagine how strong the sun was. And guess what I didn’t get one strange remark from any adult on the beach. It was almost as if they knew and where more ok about it than I was. All the time I stood on the beach tanning felt great, it was like I was new again. I guess our own fear lets out a sent or vibration that causes others to feel uncomfortable but once you are no longer afraid others are less afraid as well and feed of your strength I know it sounds corny but it felt good.

  • I also know exactly what you mean. I have always loved the beach so much that I dreamed of someday owning a home very close to the beach. A year after my dream came true, my Vitiligo started.

Well, I still live in the same house. However, when I go to the beach now, I go after the strong sun sets, I walk around in the sand near the water fully dressed, roll up the bottom of my long jeans and only get my feet wet. It is not as much fun as wearing a bathing suit and swimming in the water but it is a close second and I don't get a sunburn.

Hope you can find a solution that works for you.
  • im terrified of the sun in general. i tan really easily and it just makes it stand out more.
    • hahahaha... nice.
  • I know exactly how you feel.. my kids just didn't understand when they were younger, why mummy didn't want to take them to the beach for the day. A couple of hours in our harsh Australian sun was unbearable for me, ( with temps up to 45 degs, and if you swim the sun is reflected even more on your skin ). I couldn't watch them in our dangerous surf, play in the sand with them, all I was capable of was sitting covered with a rug, hat, umbrella, heavy sunsreen, even a sarong over my legs, and I'd still get burnt!! Doesn't make for a fun day out!!
