Hello everyone, it has been awhile since I've been on here, I just wanted to share my status on treatment, I have been getting alot of color back from the protopic, mostly on my face, and some on my chest and back and left leg, but the right side on my face has almost completly come back, the least amount of color returned has been my neck but there has been some brown dots there, I noticed it has been mostly freckling in, since I wear makeup during the day I go out twice a week by the pool and try and get some sun on the weekend to help the coloring in be more affective, If any of you haven't tried protopic yet I'd suggest it cause the steroid creams didn't help me at all, I wish you all the best and hope something works for you and regardless to do your best to feel good about yourself, I really wish I didn't let it destroy my self asteem so much, I wore no makeup to counseling awhile back and my therapist told me how good looking she thought I was and it made me feel so much better to feel excepted for who I am, I have been wearing makeup for over a year now and I feel like I am wearing a mask sometimes trying to hide who I really am and that is hard way to live your life, sorry if I am rambling but this site has been really helpful for me to know there is others and out there with this condition who care and I'd like to do the same for others
take care everyone
Vincent

Many of you have heard reports on the news or seen articles in the media regarding new issues surround Protopic and Elidel. Recently, a Food and Drug Administration Panel of the Division of Pediatric Drug Development convened. They discussed issues regarding a collective review of data which show several new animal studies documenting an increase in the likelihood of skin cancer and lymphoma with prolonged use of Elidel or Protopic. As a result, both Protopic and Elidel have received a black box warning from the Food and Drug Administration.
When i first noticed vit on my nose i immidiatly applied protopic and surely enough my nose completely repigmented. My lips did NOT repigment after about 3 months of protopic. i recently discontinued protopic due to various reasons however a few weeks ago i noticed that the vit was further spreading onto my face. So i recomensed protopic and the areas of vit that had spread outside of the lip started to repigment.
I used to have no hope but now my attitude is changing. Vitiligo is not hopeless.

Alex: I completely agree with your last sentence. I spent 4.5 months thinking, no hope. Fortunately, Protopic changed our attitude. Derm keep saying, because, Protopic brings very good results on the face and most important, it is SAFE. Apparently, good success with nor creating atrophy on the skin. Again, my daughter is only 8 years at that time, it got reversed, may be vit was in initial stages. Sometimes, Derm even says, i cannot guarantee that Protopic worked. Its probably your daughter's own body mechanism. I got so surprised to hear that. Not sure, why Derm said that. We saw atleast two dozen pics (mainly kids though !) where protopic is able to cure very well.....It's so confusing, weird that why protopic not working well in other parts of body or for everyone......just wanted to share our experience.
