I have been told that I make too many discussion's here on Vitiligo Friends and I talk too much I can't help it I'm very opinionated especially when it comes to vitiligo, I'm tired of seeing people here who don't speak their minds or say nothing you know the type I'm talking about ( the so called suffer in silence type) I have never been the type of person to be quiet especially since dealing with vitiligo for almost 30 years now, I have become a unlikely unofficial spokesperson for the cause I have so many discussions on this page about Vitiligo it energizes me when I talk about it, I want the whole world to know about vitiligo and if I had my way they would, so if your a person who's too scared to speak up about vitiligo then don't critisize me for being so vocal in these discussion forums because vitiligo needs all the voices it can get so we can be heard and you silent types don't help us any, we need all your voices tell us what you hate about vitiligo or in some small cases tell us what you love you'd be suprise to hear the responses of people out here but you never know until you speak up because like the old saying "It's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil meaning all the attention " !!!!!!

  • you have a lot to say carl... and it's therapy for you. people dont have to read everything u write. (who's got that kind of time, hahahaha)
thats why its a free country.
  • Welldone Carl, on my part no-one has said that to me or at-least that I know of, its been more of appreciation and encouragement I get from people especially in my country, social networks for bringing to their knowledge something they probably they wouldn't have come to know in life.
I only remember a few times where i was told that am using MJ as an excuse and another where i was told that I shouldn't be talking about Vitiligo laughing that it is a serious and sad condition (I asked them if I should talk about it crying....lol). Truly cant use these few comments to judge millions of people that are appreciating the work.

We need to do more, not just on Vitiligo friends, in our localities, in other social networks. There is nothing we can do about the silent types, but to continue talking, organising awareness and enlightening programs, support group meetings, some will eventually come to terms with it while some will never. we are different people, I for one, if I am to consider the silent ones, I may have stopped what am doing, atimes you only get to see them when there is an event and they make you feel that they are doing you a favor, it only makes me stronger.

I am sacrificing to help impact lives positively and improve Quality of Life (QoL) and I implore those of us who can irrespective of people's reaction to join suit, I know one thing for sure, someday Vitiligo will be of common knowledge but, someone, somebody, some people must sacrifice to make it happen.

    Self Acceptance is Key!!!
  • I was told the same thing. Not here on vitiligo freinds but in other places. People have to realize you can't have it both ways. You can't expect other's to know if we choose to be silent. Seen and not heard don't work for vitiligo. Just like fans cheer loud for their favorite team to win, you have to continue to talk about it. How can anyone take us serious if we stay on hush mode? Keep doing what you do Carl.
    • Thank you Lucy I appreciate the love and you keep doing what you do also :-)
