I have had vitiligo for 1 1/2 year. Since then I have read many pages available on the subject, and I am frustrated about the information I found on research I think the main suffering from vitiligo comes form the fact that it expands. So the treatment mostly needed is not a treatment to repigment, but a treatment to avoid further depîgmentation. Strangely enough, only a few doctors talk about this topic.
Apparently the disease is found to be associated with a lack of catalase, an enzyme which is lacking not only in the depigmented areas of the skin, but in the whole epidermitis. That would explain why the patches expand. In fact all our skin is subject to depigment. So local treatment is probably not the good option, but research should aim at a systemic treatment to help recovering the normal level of catalase.
Is there any research on a global treatment to stabilize the remaining pigmentation ?
Thank you for your input. Maybe our input can also be a help to research. That is all I hope.

hi bruno ,
well to be honest i thing what you are suggesting is the real problem and it is what the doctors it trying to do
doctors always try to contain the disease all the time instead of a suggested cure , this is part of modern medicine big issue ... the medicine available for vitiligo is a stabilizer more than a cure ...
