Related Disorder: Arthritis?

Hi

I have had vitiligo for the past 12 years since I was 11. Recently I also developed a chronic back pain.
The doctors have examined my X ray and my MRI and there seems to be nothing wrong with my spine.

Now they suspect that it is related to vitiligo and is probably some sort of arthritis (Not confirmed yet).
So I was wondering: Has anyone else had a similar experience? I believe Michael Jackson used to take a lot of pain killers as well?

I am sorry if this has been discussed before but I couldn't really find any such thing in the search

regards
Siddharth.

  • Hi,I was told by a rheumatologist recently that my chronic aches and pains is not because I have arthritis but because I have more than one autoimmune condition (underactive thyroid), I'm more susceptible to acquiring others.

I would find out if you definitely have arthritis because its dangerous to self-medicate on painkillers as they can be horrendously addictive.
  • Yes, arthritis and vitiligo both are effect of autoimmune disorder.

  • I wonder the same thing. I have had fibromyalgia for 16 years. It is a rheumatic autoimmune condition, like rheumatoid arthritis, but it attacks the muscles. I have had good years and bad years, sometimes bedridden for months at a time only to have a remission that may last a few years with only small flare-ups. All the same the medical profession treats it with the sort of drugs Michael Jackson was taking. I tried that route and I can only say it is a deadly game of juggling pain killers with muscle relaxants and sleeping pills that leaves the body even more incapacitated from the drug toxicity.

I grew up in a family of holistic practitioners, am a practitioner myself and always used natural therapies. I have gone back to using them exclusively, thereby eliminating toxic, allopathic medicine. Over the past 6-months I have improved tremendously and although I have not been able to repigment the vitiligo spots yet, they have stopped spreading. I believe this is a result of the vitamin/herbal therapy and elimination of toxic foods from my diet such a caffeine of any sort, wheat, gluten, sugars of any kind, red meat or meat from non-organically raised poultry and fish. I eat only organically grown foods and have made significant progress. I believe the allopathic drugs for the fibromyalgia had reached toxic levels in 2008 and combined with the stress on my body from coping with the pain, caused the vitiligo to present itself.
  • This topic has not been discussed before - probably because Vitiligo and Arthritis are not related. Let's see what your doctor has to say.
