Question on Protopic Usage

Wanted to learn how protopic helped others in the initial stages of V. We are from a culture where V in girls is not a great thing to have. hene, suffering silently. found this community, so that i can speak my mind. See our story below: My 8.5 daughter has V now. V started on her eyelid when she was 7.5. Used protopic for 4 months. Went away completely. We thought, we were lucky. Returned in 3 weeks. Applied Protopic again for 2 months disappeared again. 2 months later, white spots started appearing on knees and feet. Applied Protopic and Apexicon together. The spots either completely disappeared or 90% gone. However, small islands are showing up on the right foot. We are applying same creams again.

  • Thanks Kim for your reply. What you described is EXACTLY what is happening with my daughter. Usage of the protopic is helping that particular spot to go away. If the spot appears in a bony area (knee or leg), it is taking longer for the spot to fade away. Once medicine is stopped, suddenly shows up at other places (right shoulders, under arms etc.). We are simply applying same medicine. So far so good. But, this is the first time several small islands showing up on right foot. We are using, the same medicine, Protopic and Apexicon.....Keeping fingers crossed to see, if this medicine can do the same magic again. To our eyes, it appears that the intensity of whiteness is slowly fading.....Will keep you posted.
  • I had some success with protopic as an adult (that's when my vitiligo started) but as soon as I ended usage the spots typically came back or popped up somewhere else. However, as young as your daughter is she may have more success.

I've had some success without using medications recently. I'm going to start a new post called repigmenting if you want to check it out.
