Protopic for vitiligo

Has anyone else tried this medication? I was prescribed it by my dermatologist but haven't filled the prescription yet cause it was quiet expensive and had a bad experience with other steroid creams in the past. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks

  • I have used Protopic many time on my hands and chest for the last 5 years on and off. I will say it has worked 40% for me. Some spots has disappeared and others cameback. I'm very concern about using Protopic since it could cause melanomas and other type of cancer. I'm using right now, but yesterday I did my first Xtrac treatment my chest spot are red today. I'm very optimistic about this new treament I will keep you guys posted.
  • I have an HMO and the protopic still cost 60$ a tube, I reallly hope it works. My face is burning from the first Application.
    • dont drink alcohol when you use that shit. it burns! i stopped using it so i can drink...
      • I have a beer or glass of wine almost every night and it hasn't affected the areas I put Protopic on. It may affect people differently. I did experience irritation the first few days I applied it.
  • I am about a month into trying it right now. You can watch my progress (if any!) on my blog. I have Northern CA Kaiser and Protopic was $20 or $30 for the 60gm tube.
  • I have heard that it works for other people. For me, I felt that the Protopic actually helped my vitiligo to spread. I didn't have as many spots until I used this cream and it spread on my hands, legs and feet. When I stopped using it, it has not spread further. Now I just don't use anything but cocoa butter. I'm looking for natural treatments --- if there are any. I hope this helps.
