Protopic 0.1%

Has anybody tried protopic cream with a success? Today my doc asked me to use protopic 0.1% cream for my white patch on my forehead, he said his patients had good results, but his assistant suggested me continuing using my herbal treatment, she thought it was safer.

  • Protopic works well I try and use it at least once a day but I never remember but still has helped my face in a big way.

I dont use it any other place then my face as I buy it for about 130 a 60 gram tube by the time I pay for shipping to my country it comes out to at least that.

But this works great the only thing that has worked well i guess i have a light that I got from ebay that works well also I am just to lazy and forget all the time

  • Have others tried Protopic on children. My Sonia 6 and just started but worry because of the warnings. Just wanting to not cause any other issues. Any advice appreciated. Thanks
    • My Daughter was 13 when she was prescribed Protopic. She had no adverse side effects for the initial 10 weeks she took the medication. We were not diligent with using it over the winter and stopped using it. This past summer we noticed spots and began using Protopic again with no problems. It seems to have helped again. My daughter is fair skinned so some of her problems seem to fade as her tan lightens. I hope your Sonia finds something that works for her!
    • Start with 0.03% and then increase to 0.1%.

  • My daughter had a follow up appointment with her dermatologist this morning and the improvement from 8 weeks ago to today is so much more than we could have hoped for.  The doctor believes the improvement is not only due to using the Protopic 2 x daily but also using Clobetasol 0.05% 2x a day.  Due to the Clobetasol being so potent, the doctor has now ordered a less powerful steroid cream that my daughter will use in its place, along with the Protopic. Hopefully with the same results.  The improvement cannot be attributed to diet as my gal has not changed her eating habits in the past 8 weeks and is a pretty picky eater. The spots she had were on her neck and face and all have pretty much disappeared.  The doctor used the Woods lamp today and no new spots were detected. I hope each of you meet with  success, whatever your treatment plan, and that we continue to see good results until this condition can be cured for good.

  • Maybe traditional Chinese medicine can help you, you can have a try.

  • I've had good results with protopic on my face and vitamins. You don't see the results right away. Persistance, it does take some time to see the results. Good luck!
    • Michael, You are doing good, on the top of that, I am doing ginger with mixed veggie juice, eat less meat, add salmon fish. I like the mixed juice like kale, carrot, celery, cucumber, Apple.
      • Thanks.  This might sound odd but I'm also using red wine in moderation.

Red wine has been proven to have extremely good antioxidative and anti-inflammatory qualities provided you drink less than 400ml per day.  I typically drink that in half a week but it's still something....

    • I assume we should not depend on protopic only to do the work, in addition such as vitamins, ginkgo, reduce the stress, UVB , nutrition etc, it is complicated.
