why dont you try protopic 0.1% its way better than monobenzone and it will rid you of the face vitiligo in days maybe couple of months...BUT .not the hands or feet ... face it will clear very fast.
I know dealing with this issue can be very depressing and frustrating. Even after depigmentating I'm very self conscious of the hyperpigmentation on my face. But the way I personally look at it is this: I've come too far to give up now. I can beat this. I know I can.
How many dermatologists have you seen?
The reason one dermatologist approved me was that I told him that I would order the cream online myself and depigment on my own, with or without his help. (I also got emotional while saying this) At this he agreed to help me saying that if I was going to do this I might as well do it under a doctor's supervision.
Also have you tried homeopathy? I think it's worth trying, from taking it myself for some time I can say for sure that it has some effect on the body, it's not placebo. I've also seen it heal skin conditions for other people.
Two of the top remedies for treating vitiligo are Sepia and Thuja. You can get them for around $10 from Amazon.com. The potency (or strength) most commonly used is 30c, which can be taken once a week or once a month. However Thuja caused me emotional aggravations so I'd be careful using it. This book explains more about the remedies and how to dose with them, thought dosage is individual and everyone has to see how their body responds to the remedy.
You can buy it used from amazon for around $10 including shipping.
Have you tried over the counter whitening products, such as kojic acid whitening soap, to fade the rest of your skin to white? What is your current skin tone?
I wouldn't say it's "horrible", though it was a difficult process to go through. The extreme dryness, peeling skin, eye irritation and redness, was pretty bad as long as it lasted. Not everyone has the same reaction to monobnezone, so it's easier for some than others. Also I started with quite a dark tone, and only had 15-20% vit.
After depigmentation I looked really different (You can see my before and after pics in the Photo section.) It took sometime to get used to. I regretted depigmentating at first, since it was so drastic a change. It was really shocking to look at my before pictures and then look in the mirror for a while. Like I was in a new body.
But I've come to like my new white skin tone. Am I happy I did it? I think so, yes. The hyperpigmentation I have now isn't as noticeable as my vitiligo was.
Now I just need to fade these brown spots. Hopefully the homeopathy does something.
Hello I was wondering would you recommend depigmentation or not.I have tried many treatments and they all didn't work.I have had vitiligo since I was 10 i'm 22 now.I have a really hard time talking to people or going out in pubic. How bad is the hyperigmentation ,can you show me some pictures?sorry for the questions its just depigmentation was my last hope and was saving up for it
How widespread is your vit? Is it on visible areas? Would you be comfortable with a very white skin tone, and avoiding the sun? Ultimately you need to decide this for yourself.
Also it's worth repeating that kojic acid whitening soap may also work, for those who can't get a prescription for monobenzone. It's worth researching online to see what results people have got from it.
also with the kojic acid whitening soap they say when it's exposed to air, it slowly loses it's whitening power. You need to keep it stored in a zip lock bag (I was using one that has a slider lock)

or an airtight, leak proof plastic container.like this: http://www.ziploc.com/Products/Pages/TwistLocContainers.aspx?SizeNa...
Also keep it away from sunlight.
