Dont you hate it!

You pluck up the courage to see the doctor... and in one foul swoop he says these three words and make you feel worthless.

It happened to me before in the past and i am sure it will happen to alot more vitiligoers.

   The dictionary says...
Definition:

1. intended to beautify: intended to improve somebody's physical appearance
cosmetic surgery

2. done only for appearances: done to make something seem better but having no real value
The changes to the code of conduct were purely cosmetic, since attitudes remained fundamentally the same.

3. decorative: designed or added for decorative purposes rather than to have any real function
THE WIKIPEDIA SAYS:
Vitiligo (US: /ˌvɪtəl.ˈaɪɡoʊ/, UK: /ˌvɪtɨˈlaɪɡoʊ/) is a chronic disorder that causes depigmentation in patches of skin. It occurs when the melanocytes, the cells responsible for skin pigmentation which are derived from the neural crest, die or are unable to function. The precise pathogenesis, or cause, of vitiligo is complex and not yet fully understood. There is some evidence suggesting it is caused by a combination of autoimmune, genetic, and environmental factors. It is also common in people with thyroid disorders. The population incidence worldwide is considered to be less than 1 percent.[1] Non-segmental vitiligo has a greater prevalence than the disorder's other form(s).
I JUST THINK ITS TIME THAT THE DOCTORS(SOME) WERE REEDUCATED INTO THE 21 CENTURY AND WERE TOLD THAT THERE IS A INTERNAL REASON WHY WE LOSE COLOUR AND PHYSICAL DEFECT CAUSE, IN SOME CASES MENTAL PROBLEMS IN PEOPLE. sO IF YOU AGREE LET ME KNOW !!!!? :)

  • I would hate it too - if a derm said VIT was just a cosmetic problem. So far, I have been spared from those three words. If only they knew what we go through everyday of our lives waiting for the day when this "ordeal" will end.
  • I'm with you, mate!

Vitiligo is waaaaay more than just a 'cosmetic problem'...I actually feel like slapping them when people say things like that.
So what even if it's a 'cosmetic' condition? Aren't many pharmaceutical companies quite happy spending billions on anti-aging products? What can't they do something about vitiligo too? Hmmm surely it's more 'cosmetically' severe than wrinkles etc ...
