Boy oh Boy... I tell you no lie. Vitiligo or not, people still stare in my face...smh!
Its not so bad when Im in a predominately white area, but if I go someplace where the majority is black people...OMG, I get all kinds of looks. And if Im with a black guy people look at us and I really get dirty looks. I wonder if its because I look pale, or if its because they think Im something else, or could it be my fabulous style...lol.
Who knows, but when I go in an area where its mostly African Americans I get stared at the most and it makes me very uncomfortable and I feel awkward. I know I don’t have to prove myself, but goodness gracious! Can I have my face back???

I'm Cuban, but have had to explain for years not only my vitiligo, but also that my family is "European Cuban", hence the fair skin and light-ish eyes. Even when trying to explain that my paleness goes hand in hand with the white patches, I'm seen as a traitor to my own kind, like I'm ashamed of my heritage (I live in FL, land of the free and home of the empanada. WTF?).
Living in a predominately black area of a city that's over 60% black I get the biggest stares and whispers because of my vitiligo and I say to myself why do my people have to act so god damn ignorant because of my vitiligo people of other races don't act this way it's only other black people and it makes me so mad, I don't mind if you took a quick glance at me but a long stare is a diffrent story and it makes me feel so infuriated and why do people think you don't know they are whispering about you and they try to be so slick about it, it makes me sick !!!!!!
how do you breath through that thing.
