New Medication

HI All,

My daughter suffers from Vitiligo since she is 5, now she is 14 and she has repigmented a little with UVB  treatments at the Dermatologist office. Recently He prescribed a new medication which is a mix of Tacrolimus and Pseudocatalise which you get from a compound pharmacy. Has anybody heard or prescribed this new treatment? any side effects?

Thanks in advance!

  • My daughter facing same problem and she is 11 now. Can you please tell me from where can i get this Pseudocatalise from and did doctor anything mentioned about the side effect? how the cream looks? is it posible for you to send me  a photograph or online link?

    • I usually order it through Innorx pharmacy in Yorba Linda, CA.  Here's the link to the pseudocatalase on Amazon:  http://www.amazon.com/Pseudocatalase-Cosmeceutical-Cream-60-gram/dp...

    • Hi Rebeca,

I havent gotten the medication as yet. In one of the visits for her treatment he mention there was a new medication and told me I should try it for my daughter. Since We are not going to her treatment until next week I called the service center for this compound pharmacy where the medication will come from but I could not reach anybody to inquire if this medication comes separate or mixed. As I understand one of the ingredients tacrolimus is the same as protopic, a commonly used medication for vitiligo, the novelty according to them is the 2 mixed. You can look side effects online to get more info because the doctors always tells you that there are no side effects but at this point I take it to myself to investigate more. I could not get definite info on both meds online so I will ask more next week. My daughter has had some repigmentation thru UVB light treatments. With these treatments you have to be consistent and go weekly once or twice, and watch that as they go up in time that she doesnt get burn. Sometimes she gets a little red which is desirable, but not burn. She also combines this treatments with Excimer, but this is only for small spots like face and neck with very good results. As with any medication for vitiligo you also have to be very consistent or you wont see results. It has to be apply as prescribed. My daughter has not been very good about applying medication and I dont force it also because I worry about side effects. I will let you know about any info the give me. If you are seeing a doctor for your daughter you can inquire about this medication to see if he knows about it, because this compound pharmacy wont give it to you without it. I am happy to share all my experience with my daughter if that helps you.

      • Thank you so much for your information. she is using protopic and elomet now. Everyone talking about pseudo cream in this group and in my place they dont have such things.once again thanks..please update me if you find anything. Thank you Maria

  • I don't know about the mixture but I've been using just tacrolimus for years and I haven't experienced any side effects. It is relatively effective, for me, anyway. Good luck! :)

  • Yes.

Tacrolimus and Pseudocatalase must not be mixed.  They have to be passed separately in different time.  For example, tacrolimus in the morning and pseudocatalase before bed.

    • Hi Flavio I found out that this medication is a mixed. Have you done some research about why this 2 should not be mixed? I will greatly appreciate any input. Thank you!

      • Protopic blocks UVB-NB.

Pseudocatalase needs UVB-NB to accelerate it.

So, you will get better effect if you don't mix them.

There is no sinergy between them, since pcat decreases local oxidative stress and protopic acts against microinflammation.
