I have focal vitiligo which means its only in one spot and it might not progress i hope.... Ive had the spot for 2 years. Does anyone have focal vitiligo? As in only one spot? I've heard focal vitiligo is the hardest to treat. I live right by the Henry Ford Hospital  and been thinking about getting the MKTP procedure since my vitiligo is on my face. I've been using protopic for about 2 months with no results. I bought a nb uvb lamp, i used it for about 5 treatments, but on the last one i burned myself. I stopped using NB UVB because it made my spot stand out more since it tanned the normal skin. Should i still use NB UVB ? How long before you see result?

Does anyone have experience with MKTP and what was your result ?

MKTP = Melanocyte Keratinocyte Transplant Procedure,

Thank you.

  • Yes I have had experience With MKTP cell treatment.....It has helped me on some spots which were stable ...you are Perfect candidate to mktp it helps most on Stable Focal and SV.

Protopic doesn`t help every one, the same to UVB ,,,,you have to use it carefully increase gradually don`t burn..UVB  helps more  if you start 3 weeks after Mktp.

If you have stable focal vitiligo ,I guarantee  you will fully repigment If you og to Dead sea and take klima therpy for 2-3 weeks after Mktp  treatment.

    Goodluck!

    • No insurance covers it. As far as I know its considered cosmetic.
    • Hey Vani I have an appointment in April for mktp . It costs up to $4000. The lowest is $2400 depending on size of the treatment.
      • Thank you for replying so fast tony..does your insurance cover any of the cost or u have to pay all of it?
    • Hi, Bamsegutt, do you live in USA? I am wondering how much it will cost for mktp. I am thinking to go for it. At least for my palm and fingers. Thanks.
    • The dead sea?

      • Dead sea lies between Israel and Jordan..it is in the lowest point on Earth it makes the sun very suitable to stimulate the dormant cells ,the sea contains many minerals that other sea don`t have the sea is has too much salt that the water is tick you cant sink...it means you flow,

All this combination helps many other skin condition too ...but Unfortunately not every one get cured or get permanent repigment...allmost every one observe some result.
