Last week I was putting lotion on my daughters legs because she has eczema and she was complaining of itching. I was applying it to her bottom and noticed white skin between her buttocks. The next day I took her to see her primary physician and there was more white skin on her vagina area. She was not born with this skin and we just noticed it. The doctor said it is vitiligo. Do any of your children have vitiligo? I don't know any of my family members that have it. Any advice for my husband and I?

My thoughts are that if you were to follow this young lady's progress and research, and that of one of her role models, Winnie Harlow, you might find helpful and inspiring information as to available treatment. I believe the resources available to these models, via their sponsors and prominently interested individuals, may often likely be greater than our own, and I'm certain what is helpful for them will be visible to us and would be made known through the media. Case in point, LeeThomas, the Fox 2 anchor, who will be featured in a movie about his life and our condition, which is ongoing for him.
Something similar happened to my 5 year old son. He had eczzema since his birth, with medication and age eczema improved but he developed Vitiligo. Now it is spread on his chest, back and face. The doctor has prescribed - Defza 6 mg, junior lanzol, whitcream, eczrid forte 0.1, momate XL. I don't want to give him any more steroids as he has had a lot during his eczema treatment.
I wish fast recovery for our kids.
Does any one know any medicine which has been effective.
She can't even see it herself cause of where it is. I talk to her about it but I don't think she really understands. The doctor prescribed some steroid creams to put on for two week on and two weeks off. I'm going to get her back taking her multivitamins. Thank you for responding.
I have vitiligo even though no other known family member has it. Did the doctor prescribe anything. Usually they start people with Protopic works in some cases. There's some research suggesting people with vitiligo don't get enough nutrients from the food they eat so a multivitamin might not be a bad idea. Ginkgo Biloba also has been shown to halt a spread.

Dear Antoinette, from Steve's "News Search" column, I found this information concerning a prominent child with Vitiligo:
