Just began my research (LOL !) on something called Mucosal Vitiligo. I downloaded 30 plus articles from the web. I plan to read these articles and kind of share a summary sometime soon.
In an additin, I am also interested in Trichrome Vitiligo as well.
Pl feel free to share your knowledge/experience with the forum.

I was just browing, ran into this website www.newlookvitiligo.com. Check it out in the tab, Before and After. Since I am focussed on lip for now, take a look at the two pics in 4th row.
Pretty good results with this Excimer....
Just curious, if anyone has good success with Excimer. I kind of remember, some members were planning to give it a try or did already, not sure.
This facility is in India though. Their main website shows the following sites as well....interesting.
www.newlooklaserhairremoval.com
www.newlookantiageing.com
www.newlookvitiligo.com
www.newlooklaserclinic.com
Exclude patients with hand & foot involvement
Excluded patients with unstable Vitiligo
so they're looking at a small gorup of us.
the pictures do u good... which always makes me wonder about cost and insurance coverage (they cover anything new)
but still (not to be a wet blanket) pretty interesting.
Pigment loss in the lips is rare but it does happen in vitiligo patients and one of the most famous patients of this procedure was Michael Jackson
Our derm said,he does not want protopic to be applied on lip. Since there no hair folicules in that area, apparently, repigmentation chances are very low.
Trying to find out what creams can be applied from the derm.
Only proven possibility is surgical treatment. There is this book, wherein the treatment is described at length with lots of picture. Not sure, if worth going that route.
I plan to upload one document that has all the links for lip vitiligo for people to read, if they are interested.
The color of the lips is determined by both pigment and the blood vessels that lie below the skin. So, when areas of vitiligo form on the lips, they lose pigment and become pink. This is something new I learned today from "research community".
However, many people have pink tone to their lips without vitiligo. This is natural. Absolutely.
There is one confusing issue with lips. The lips for most people will fluoresce (or glow) when exposed to wood's lamp. In other words, if lips glow when exposed to Wood's lamp does NOT automatically mean that it is Vitiligo. So that tells me that, we are back at the mercy of a Derm to figure out what is really happening to the lip....
Pl comment, if this is confusing....I will clarify further.
Hmmmmm. this is not exciting news really. Our daughter's lips are becoming pinkish slowly.
