Melatonin pills

Went to my family doctor today and talked about my Vitiliogo and asked him if he had heard of  any history of over the counter pills. Told him I was using Ginko and Recouleur. He said he really didn't have any in mind but then he said " What about trying Melatonin tablets, AS the melatonin is what is destroyed in the skin causing the white patches", He did not say it would work and you should ask your own doctor but it got me thinking. Did any of you try this, Please let me know. Thanks and remember " GET BUSY LIVING!

  • Thanks for Bamsegutt! I have had some sucess with natural pills such as Recouleur, Ginko, Vitimin D and fish oil. I have never used Protopic or such. At this time I have chosen the natural way and thought maybe to add Melatonin until there is a cure!!
    • William!

Thanks for sharing your treatment method.  Im curious to know about your natural pills.  What kind of doctor (chiropractor etc) one should see to get these pills.  Are they available over the counter.  I have read somewhere that flaxseed oil helps with vitiligo?  Is it the same as fish oil.  Forgive my ignorance, but I am new to all these things.

And lastly, how do you get your vitamin D?

      Thanks in advance.

      • Jahan, All the pills I am currently using can be bought over the counter at a pharmacy, Fish oil I mostly use for the heart and circulation. Also i have heard fish oil can help with the skin not sure if Vitiligo but skin. Vitimin D also bought at a pharmacy.
  • Melanin and Melatonin are two different things.  Melatonin is used to control sleep cycles.  Melanin has to do with the pigment in the skin.  While the two sound similar, there is a big difference
    • Thanks DJ! When I looked up Melatonin there was a paper from Yale that a pair of dr's I think in 1958 did a study on it and saw some that it could help with some skin diseases. Thanks again!
