Thank you, Ananka Myrie, it does help. We have seen two dermatologists and currently we're on two weeks of mometasone, then we're going to switch to protopic and use the steroid only on weekends. Her spots have not increased since we started the treatment. Thanks again, everyone here is very helpful!
Hi Kathy, many terms like rapid spread and stability are subjective and patient specific. For me, stable vitiligo means the patch has remained unchanged for several months (I cant give u an exact number for your daughter but for myself, I use 2-3 months). Rapid spread for me, means i see a noticeable increase in the diameter of the patch in 2-3 weeks. I too have eczema but i do not have vitiligo patches in the same place, so i don't really know if what you are describing is a common post-inflammatory change. Have you found a dermatologist for her yet? I am using protopic to try and halt the spread, once this is accomplished and I have established some stability, I will restart Latisse. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the response. How do you know if your vitiligo is stable or not? I was also wondering what rapid spread means? I know the spot on my daughter's upper buttocks went from small to about 6 cm in about two months,would that be considered rapid spread? The sports from eczema have not grown in size, is that usually the case when you see post inflammatory spots? Sorry, off my original topic, but we're new to this.
I have been using it for a couple months now on spots on my body..I am unsure of the results so far but I am going to continue using it for awhile longer and see if anything changes
I read about Latisse being used also. It was a small study and the patients had small areas of local segmental vitiligo but the results were good. Repigmentation occurred in most of the patients, but I am unsure if it was complete. I believe it was used in patients with stable vitiligo. I had used it for a week but then stopped because of some minor irritation. I plan on trying it again after my vilitigo stablizes (it is currently spreading pretty rapidly).
