I have been using Jergens fair/medium tone for a few weeks. I am putting it directly on the white patches and really haven't seen a big improvement. My question is do you need to have Melatonin for this to work? I am wondering if it turns the skin darker because the melatonin responds to the cream.

Hi friends! I have had better luck with Mary Kay self tanner. I put it on in the late afternoon/early evening, then bathe 3-5 hours later before going to bed. It continues to darken overnight and usually the next morning my spots are blending better with the rest of me :-) I have found that if I go to bed without washing it off, it will have a bronzy tint to it...but if I bathe before retiring, it looks more natural. I am attempting to attach two photos...one taken yesterday before applying tanner, then one from this morning to show the difference!

I've used Jergens Natural Glow for years and it doesn't do anything to my spots but make them a little yellow/orange and that's just because of the bronzer in the lotion. You do need pigment for the lotion to do much of anything sadly. :/ But I still use it anyways! It smells good and it works on the spots that I do have pigment. If you're confident with your spots standing out a little more than usual, the lotion is a great way to get a sunny glow without the sun exposure. :)
I haven't tried Jergens, but I use Copper Tone Gradual Tan. I "paint" it on my spots. I put it on pretty thick and then let it air dry before bed. The next morning I can see a difference. By the third day most spots are pretty well blended. It's definitely not perfect but it makes a HUGE difference. If I ever get a decent camera I'll do a tutorial.
Thanks Tina and Hal, Tina I am having the same issues bronze around my white spots. Hal you said Jergens daily Glow Express, I am using Jergens Natural Glow maybe they are different and I will look for the wording Daily Glow express. You say it works well so maybe worth a try!
I use Jergens Daily Glow Express. I use it wherever I want coverage and it works well!
William, I was soooo excited to try this on my white spots, and put it on overnight....big mistake....it didn't "take" and just looked like a bronzy mess on TOP of the already whiter than white spots! I have wondered the same thing, if not having any color to begin with makes these patches non-responsive to any type of recoloring either naturally or otherwise. Sorry I cannot be of more help than that. Would be interested to see what others have to say about this.
It does nothing for my white spots. In fact,it makes the darker skin look tanner and the vitiligo does not get covered.
