Hello Everyone!
I am new here. After about a year and a half of seeing different doctors for a strange skin condition I finally have a diagnosis. I have vitiligo! I am not completely sure what that means for me yet, but I have to say that it is a relief since what they were originally telling me was that they thought I had skin cancer. Good luck keeping the stress level down when you have that going on.
I am light skinned so I have been able to cover up a quarter sized spot on my face by using a self tanning cream. I also have other spots scattered across my body but they are covered by clothing so not such a big deal. Some of the spots circle moles that once had some pigment, and now the pigment is gone.
I kind of have this feeling like if my body decided like there was a problem with this pigment then maybe I should just do nothing and let it remove it. I know that that probably sounds crazy. The whole thing has been really scary.
I saw a group a dermatologist at the University of Pennsylvania who finally gave me the diagnosis (third group of dermatologists I had been to). They have prescribed triamcinolone .025% and want me to use it for a month to see if it has any effect on the depigmentation. Has anyone used this? Any success or side effects?
May thanks in advance for your reply

Hello,
Thank you both for all the information and the welcome. I am glad to have found the group : )
I look forward to getting to know everyone.
Many thanks,
Joann
Hi Joann,
Glad to hear that your suspected skin cancer wasn't! I think we vitiligo sufferers sometimes get a bit frustrated when people say "at least it's not life-threatening" because they usually totally underestimate the psychological effects of vitiligo. But - having suspected the worst - I can certainly understand your feeling relieved at your diagnosis.
I'm afraid I don't know anything about Triamcinolone apart from what I have read in this paper:
Aetna vitiligo paper
Like William M, I took the decision to treat my vitiligo naturally using nutritional supplements (and some sun and/or UV exposure). This is the only course of action that has ever produced any positive results for me and I'm so encouraged by them that I have put the whole story onto a website at:
Vitiligo Protocol
I do hope reading it helps and will give you hope that an effective treatment is possible for all of us.
Good luck,
Caroline.
