Could anyone tell me if someone who has Vitiligo can steam their face or go in the steam room Sauna please? I'm a vitiligo suffer, 90% of my body has depigmented by the vitiligo, though with some patches of course, but my face is a disaster as it's kind of a patchwork, I'm naturally black / brown skinned complexion woman, I had not used any bleaching creams before and my skin use to be velvet smooth brown as seen on my profile picture. Though I'm more of a white woman on the rest of my body but my face Black and White sports, the colour doesn't agree with the the skin camouflage powders, my dermatologist has so far started me on a topic cream to try and speed up the process of depigmentation, the cream is in a 30 grams Tube ( Monobenzone of Hydroquinone Either) been using it for 3 weeks now but there's no sign for any depigmentation whatsoever and now don't know how I can deal with my face to improve the state of it, please somebody help me.
Kind Regards.

Sauna should be fine, in fact good for you. I do infrared sauna everyday to help my skin detox. The only concern really is to be sure you are getting enough vitamins/minerals in your diet along with supplementation to avoid getting depleted.
Be very careful not to get the monobenzone in your eyes Clemencia, that chemical will surely get you all they way to depigmentation, just be patient. It takes a few months.
Point taken I'm now using it all the time as prescribed, taking into consideration that it doesn't work over night, as I only just started, this would be my second month on it and I'll pretend I'm using nothing as I've seen nothing yet, I'll see how it goes in the long run, I believe it works from inside out so the results will come as a later stage I reckon.
Many thanks!!
It doesn't work that fast. Sometimes it takes months before you see results with the monobenzone cream. steam will help open up your pores so the cream that you are applying get absorbed into the skin nicely. steam itself will not depig you, it will just help the cream to work better. make sure not to sweat after you apply the cream as it will give you burning feeling.
Thank you Sanjay I was really worried because I hear staying in the sun may cause damage to the vitiligo skin then I looked at it from the wrong angle. I thought, the sun has that heat so as the Sauna may fall in the same line as the steam may be too warm, but I appreciate your reply and I'm going to try the Sauna and see how much it could help to speed up the process, as for the sun that's my worst enermy I hardly go out unless I need to.
No, the problem with sun exposure AFTER going through monobenzone is that you could get hyperpigmentation spots and those become resistant to the chemical and most likely impossible to get rid off.
But if you take care you'll have perfect white skin from here on.
Hey. I don't know much of anything about causing depigmentation on purpose, but I do know that it should be safe to go in a sauna with vitiligo. I've done it before, and I didn't lose any pigmentation or anything because of it. I used to have a little vitiligo on my face. I think steam is good for skin. It would be like if you took a long, hot shower, I suppose. Although, I guess you could be wary of how long you stay in a sauna. Hope this helps. :) good luck.
Hi Saachi and thanks for replying, my main fear or concern was that perhaps if I go in the steam room / sauna my skin could panic taking the steam heat as the heat from the sun. So I'll try the sauna little by little taking care that I don't stay much longer in there and also making sure I don't apply the cream very soon, not until I quickly drive home to sit by the fan, perhaps it may help. Many thanks!!!!
