I have had vitiligo for over 27 years now and it's become a part of me and I consider it an extension of myself I learned many years ago to accept my vitiligo than to treat it I know many other people here may disagree because we all have our own personal opinions about treating or not treating it. And some of us try to hide it by using concealing cremes like Derma-Blend or Covermark some people feel comfortable using these products because it makes them blend in with the general public and feel accepted but I feel that why should I have to go thru that to feel accepted because if somebody don't like my appearance because of the vitiligo I say to hell with them because they probably wouldn't of been somebody I could consider a friend anyway. Yes Iv'e learned to accept and embrace my vitiligo over the years because time has a way of making you get used to things. I remember when my hands and feet were brown and now they are white so I'm used to that now and other parts of my body will soon completely de-pigment in a matter of time you know vitiligo has no specific time frame the rate of De-pigmentation varies from person to person. I'm enjoying life right now the best that I can and my vitiligo is no longer a issue in my life since I was diagnosed with heart failure in January of 2009 my heart problems have drastically taken the focus off of my vitiligo because this is something that in all honesty will probably take my life in a few years so there's no sense in crying or making a fuss about my vitiligo I just have to continue living on and accepting my vitiligo because life is short. There's so much of a world out there to see and don't let your vitiligo stop you from seeing that world. Remember when God created you and me he made no mistakes so don't think you vitiligo is a mistake we are all like this for a reason and just be thankful to have a life right now. Life is for the living and remember we come into this world only once so make your life the best that you can because you never know when you are going to leave this earth and the only thing that's promised in this life is the fact that you will leave this earth one day, so be happy smile enjoy it while you can because before you know it this thing that we call life will be over so no matter how you deal with your vitiligo make sure you deal with it the best way you can and by whatever means makes you comfortable because you have my love and support on whatever way you choose to deal with your vitiligo.
