I AM SO HAPPY FOR ALL OF YOU

Hello Everyone, I was just reading some of the things posted by a lady named "Linda" and it really disturbed me that she seems so negative when it comes to people's success or how they may have begun to repigment. I think it's mean to say to anyone that " I don't believe you". I feel that as a person with Vitiligo it's important to listen to the things that may work for other people as it may work for us. I just want you all to know that I am so glad to know you all and I wish you all the best of luck with whatever your treatment plan may be and I truly beleive within my heart and soul there will be a cure for this and one day all of us will be declared healed.....Folks let's not listen to negative things people say on this website let's just keep encourgaing eachother and loving who we are in spite of this disorder.. Love you All.... God Bless

  • Hi Marcie

As someone who feels similarly to Linda I think it's important to acknowledge the context in which her reply was written. As such there is no known 'cure' for Vitiligo. The symptoms can be managed / controlled etc but a cure isn't available. If it was then this web site probably wouldn't exist!
Some people, and I include myself in this, object to the so called claims for a cure which, for the 'vulnerable' Vitiligo community (those who suffer emotionally and psychologically), it raises expectations in a way which can be harmful. The WWW is littered with so called cures, and in my opinion, they exploit purely for £inancial gain. Just look to right of these postings. I know one young man who tried to take his life because he was so devastated by his Vitiligo.
For some people Vitiligo is a very cruel and debilitating condition, and whilst I am sure that the author of the dead sea posting meant no harm, it ticked another, one claim too far, 'cure' box.

There is a doctor in Germany who uses dead sea climatology to effect repigmentation with psuedolactase but this happens only after a careful and thorough assessment.

    Quote:

"The "Dead Sea therapy" is also effective in treating this disease in which small or large areas of skin lose their natural pigment. After the first 4-week course, and sometimes before the end of the treatment, the white patches start to show new pigments, beginning the healing process that continues several weeks after the patient returns home.

In most cases, climatotherapy has to be repeated for several years until the condition is eliminated. Occasionally, rapid and complete repigmentation can occur after a single visit at the Dead Sea. Bathing in the Dead Sea water for 20 minutes twice a day is usually recommended and has to be done before sun exposure. The skin condition has to be taken into account, requiring a medical examination before the decision of Dead Sea water bathing can be taken.

Like you, I hope there will be cure, but until such tiem as there is, I will exercise my right to view such claims with an open mind.

    Best wishes

    Mike
    • That's fine Mike but we still need to be respectful of other people that's all I'm saying. One thing may work for you which may not work for me. If Jesus can be rasied from the dead we can be cured of this disorder plain and simple. I have faith and I am standing on my faith.
Go in Peace. Thanks for your follow up.
      • Thanks Marcie

What will work for us is a dedicated scientific and well researched approach to this condition.

I respect your other views but cannot comment.

        • Thanks Mike for your insight...
But I also have a strong faith...I realize that the internet is plagued with various so called cures for treatment of various ailments, this including vitiligo. Although some of these so called cures may be fictitious some may have true healing properties. Yes there currently is no cure for Vitiligo at this time but there are many treatments and response by each person is different... I respect everyone for who they are and embrace any knowledge and information I can learn from them
  • I do agree with you also, and I just want to add that treatment for Vitiligo varies among individuals. Some people resond to some treatments and others do not... I love to hear about success stories also and am glad to have found this site!
