Hi Friends,
Follow this step by step guide on how to build your own UVB-NB handheld device. The big advantage of this product is the fact that you can use either 1 or 2 bulbs, i.e., 9w or 18w (2 x 9w).
Disclaimer:
1- Do not use any device without a Doctor's supervision.
2- Do not use this guide to produce a device for monetary sale (it is suitable for personal, supervised use only).
Step by step:
1- Buy the following car work light (around $29):
2- Buy the UVB-NB PL-S 9w/01 bulbs, 1 or 2, it's up to you (around $50 each):

3- Remove the acrylic transparent cover of the work light. For this, you will have to remove 2 small bolts. After removing these bolts, throw them away, since you won't need them anymore.
4- Replace the original 13W bulbs for the 9W UVB-NB bulbs carefully. It's tricky. You may have to bend the bulb before attaching or detaching.
5- Before the phototherapy session make sure that the acrylic cover is detached , since it filters UVB-NB wavelength. This cover has only a storage protection purpose (attached w/o screws).
6- Wear appropriate UV-blocking safety glasses during the whole session. You can purchase a pair (around $3) at:
7- Good luck.

I did this and bought two bulbs. It works great. Thanks!
Excellent.
Regarding the fixture, did you buy the one that has 1 switch (Walmart) or 2 switches (Home Depot)?
I'd rather the second one, since we can control bulbs individually.
Regards asd success.
I bought it through Amazon. It has two switches.
Coincidentally, I recently noticed someone is selling these "homemade" units on ebay. They also sell other vitiligo related items. I believe I bought one of my bulbs from them.
I think it's a guy from Israel. Sometimes he sells via NY. He read the post. He is doing what I asked people not to do (monetary sales).
