HI MY NAME IS NEILA I HAVENT PLUCK UP THE NERVE TO MAKE A DISCUSSION, BUT IVE DECIDED TO TRY LOL. I HAVE VITILIGO ON MY LOWER LIP IN TWO QUITE FAIR SIZES ON EACH SIDE OF MY LOWER LIP. I CHOSE NOT TO WEAR LIPSTICK BECAUSE 1. IT WILL MASK IT WHICH I DONT WANT
2. I WANT PEOPLE TO LIKE ME FOR ME
3. WHY SHOULD I
I WORK IN RETAIL WHERE IM A SUPERVISOR WHICH MEANS I DEAL WITH THE PUBLIC FACE TO FACE, WHAT I DONT LIKE IS WHEN PEOPLE STARE OR IF IM SERVING A CUSTOMER THEY DONT LOOK AT ME WHEN THEIR TALKING BECAUSE THEY DONT WANT O SEE MY LIP. AM I BEING SILLY BUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE, PEOPLE ARE SO NARROW MINDED AND RUDE. IT REALLY UPSETS ME AND TO BE HONEST GETS ME REALLY DOWN BECAUSE IT MAKES ME FEEL SELF CONCIOUSE WHEN I SPEAK. I KNOW THERE ARE QUITE A FEW PEOPLE ON THIS SITE IN WORSE CASE SITUATIONS THEN MYSELF WHICH MAKES ME FEEL BAD AMD THAT I HAVE NO RIGHT TO COMPLAIN. I WOULD REALLY LIKE YOUR OPINIONS ON THIS AND WOULD BE REALLY GREATFULL FOR SOME FEEDBACK.

We are short of any miracles happening soon in the way of a cure. As mentioned I have given up hope on a cure. I'm not trying to shoot any hopes for you but I'm going to live my life and make my vit invisible to me.And go about my daily life living ,loving and holding onto what I have. I believe in Jesus Christ as my only savior. I walk with Him on a daily basis,I'm am not alone. He takes me where I'm afraid to go and He takes me where there is love.
I have cried enough tears because of this vit but I'm finished with that. Listen to your heart and find your way in this life,be yourself. Most importantly be honest with yourself,to your friends and family. Take your stand and live your life. What has helped me and I hope it helps you, quit staring at yourself and start looking at yourself. You will see that you have and always been the same person. Neila I understand that you are not ready to post your picture up on this site yet and I respect that. I was the same way at first but after I posted my picture I got a message from another vitiligo friend who said that because I had the courage to put my picture up it gave them the courage to do the same. now I don't know if it would work the same for you or not but maybe posting your picture would give somebody else the courage to post theirs and remember this from me Neila even if you think your vitiligo patches are worst than anybody else's your probably wrong but we will never know because you never posted your picture and you might be the one who brings another vitiligo member out of the darkness
Dear Neila working in the public doing retail work I can imagine what you go thru on a daily basis but you gotta keep your head up and remember somebody has to pay the bills I used to be a security gaurd who was stationed right in the front of a supermarket and I used to hate the looks and stares I used to get but it got to the point where I got used too it after a while because my main concern was keeping my job so I could continue to pay my bills despite how people were looking or staring at me and in most cases I stared right back at them..............lol
The biggest obstacle that I have learned to overcome when dealing with my Vitiligo was the simple fact that I had to learn how to love myself and now that I know I love myself I could care what other people think about my Vitiligo so let them look, stare, and Whisper I just don't care because I love myself and if I love myself theirs nothing a person can do too rain on my parade !!!!!!
thank you carl your words are very incouraging i really hate the stares you would think i was difigured or something not saying that should make ppl stare. i was at work 2day and the stares some ppl gave me really hurt, i find that everytime i know im going work i cant sleep the night b4 because i get so nervous thinking about wat ill have to deal with at work. I wont let it get the better of me though
Neila i understand what you are going thru i have Vit very extensive on my face chest and arms so if i wear short sleeve or tank tops its very noticable but within the last year I have learned to love myself also and i have a husband who loves me no matter what....Yes i hate the stares but sometime I just look back at them and say may I help you? or do you know me? LOL!!!! and usually that breaks the ice and they may ask me about my Vit it's really hard and i'm 37 yrs old and been dealing with this my whole life it's just gotten worse in the last 9yrs don't let this stress you out or keep you from sleeping because if you stress it makes your Vit spread so just stay calm and get your beauty Rest LOL!!!!!

Dear Monyouette I agree with you 100% on that.I'm also married and my wife loves me no matter what. But most importantly I love myself and if a person can't love their self how can they expect to love somebody else I honestly believe that if you love God and you love yourself first everything else will fall in place and to be honest true love don't care if you have Vitiligo or not because if it's going to happen rather you have Vitiligo or not. We people with Vitiligo are some of the nicest people you would ever want too meet but some people are just scared to give us a chance because they are affraid of what they don't understand
