As a man with Vitiligo I notice that women who have it are more concerend about their looks and are more likely than men to use cosmetics and cover cremes that's why I'm concerend about my children getting it because I have all girls (4 daughters) and I know how important looks are when it comes to females because looks has always been a top priority to females and I know as my two youngest daughters grow up they are going to have some concerns also and all I can do is tell them all that I know about our skin pigmentation disorder, My 18 year old daughter's boyfriend has a Grandmother with Vitiligo so my daughter is concerend that it might show up on her baby if they decide to get married and have a child it's normal for a child to be so curious about Vitiligo especially after seeing it in their family I talked too my 18 and 20 year old all ready about Vitiligo but I'm going to wait until my 2 and 4 year old get a little older before I explain my Vitiligo too them because, to be honest they have not asked me a question about it yet because I guess they think I'm supposed to be this way as their dad !!!!!!

Aww Carl your daughters are beautiful! Of course they think you're supposed to be that way it's the way you've always been to them. I'm not too concerned about passing on vitiligo to my children, I survived it well and with proper guidance learned to love my vitiligo. I'm more concerned about passing on Severe allergies to my kids, as we both have them. But again you can live with them, you just have to live a little differently. :D
My son is six. I have Vitiligo. My mother has psoriasis. The patches where the psoriasis has been have hyperpigmented so she has darker patches of skin. One day my son looked at me and looked at her and asked "Well, where are my spots?" If he gets it.....I am sure it will be all good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO
