Hidden Vitiligo visible under blacklight

Check it out. If you are a white person and have no tan in certain areas, you might have more spots than you know about. I waved a blacklight over my body and found an upside-down cowboy hat under my armpit. It's my biggest spot and I didn't even know I had it! I'm so proud now. Of course, it's still almost impossible to see under normal lighting, but I know it's there.

  • Yes, i thought i had just a few very small spots on my face and hands. But when they looked at me under a black light I looked like a rodeo clown facially, and my hands had almost NO PIGMENT left!

I didnt even think to check in my arm pits!

I was just diagnosed last week. It seems like you three are all quite pale like me - how noticeable is your vitiligo?
    • Well, i've lost over 60% of my skin color so now i'm pretty white! haha. I don't tan at all on my face anymore, I think it might be because I don't have anymore pigment left. In summer I'm out in the sun lots so you do notice quite a bit, winter not so much.

And yes I enjoy my spots! like a living tattoo :)
      • dont get sunburned.
        • Those little UV lights can't burn you, man. They're a little hostile because of the spectrum they put out, but it's such a low wattage that you might as well pick a bullet and toss it lightly at someone to the same effect.
    • The spots on my hands are pretty noticeable when I have a moderate tan. Otherwise, I'm so white that they are hard to find.
  • It's true, I worked at a job that used black light for inspection purposes and I discovered how extensive my V really was.
  • yeehaw! Yes black lights are fun, I've also got some transition spots that haven't lost all there pigment yet and are in between both shades. Like a beautiful tapestry!
    • Good to see another person who can enjoy their spots.
