Has any one used ELIDEL or CLOBETASOL creams on kids?

Hi everyone :) I've just joint vitiligofriends.org. Thank you for having me. I have a seven year old daughter who was recently diagnosed with vitiligo. Two years ago when she was five is when we first noticed a little spot near her left eye. She has spots all over her body and it's progressing steadily. On her face it's only on her eyelids and they are getting bigger. Last week she saw a dermatologist and she prescribed her ELIDEL 1% cream for her face and CLOBETASOL 0.05% cream for the rest of the body. Has anyone used any of these creams? Do they really work? We're not sure if they're save for such a little person. Her dermatologist wants us to get her UVB treatments too. Any success stories? We appreciate any info. You can give us. Best regards Siham

  • First of all, vitiligo patches are the effect.  It's the body showing that something is wrong. So, before treating the effect you should start investigating the causes. Or you can do both (treatment and investigation) together.

About your question,  Elidel is a great product.  Keep it.  Clobetasol has bad side effects, since it makes skin thinner if used in a long term.  I don't recommend it.

Back to the investigation part, have you:

    -checked hypothyrodism?

-tested food allergies (also celiac disease)?

-tested dysbiosis (candida, yeast, h-pylori, parasites)?

    -checked adrenal?

    -checked liver?

After making sure that none above is a root cause,  you will have start focusing the most likely causes:

    1-Oxidative stress

    2-Physical trauma

So far so good.  Please digest this first chapter before we go through items 1 and 2 above.

Have one thing in mind: Doctors don't know much about this disease.

    • Hello Flavio, we thank you for all the information you gave us. As far as tests we haven't done any of those yet. Her doc. did order some tests be done soon and we'll be getting those done within the next week or so. Thats a start I guess:)
      • Absolutely.  Don't forget to do the food allergy test.  See: http://ibstreatmentcenter.com/

Just to make sure,  where does she have the white spots?

If they are on knees or elbows or hands or feet or face  and they tend to be in both sides,  it's NSV   (non-segmental vitiligo).

        The likely NSV causes are:

        1-Primary: Genetic predisposition

        - There is nothing to be done regarding this so far.  It's a DNA matter.

        2-Secondary: Enviromental

2.1-Oxidative stress (hydrogen peroxide, lipid peroxidation and mitochondrial mutation)

-There is a lot to be done.

2.2-Physical trauma (friction, scratches, sun burns, itches, injuries, allergies, etc.)

        -Some can be done.

Doctors don't believe that these are the main causes.  They still think it's an autoimmune disease.  They try to manage it with immune suppressors and modulators, but it doesn't work. After many decades, they still try the same.

Before going through items 2.1 or 2.2,  please make sure she has NSV.
