If you would or want to, please reply with your ethnicity or race, general and original skin coloring, and if you feel like you are dealing with or suffering from vitiligo.

  • Im African American

I was a Cinnamon Carmel skin tone until age 3.

And I’m not suffering with my vitiligo, It makes me feel Exotic, Unique, Super Rare, and Diva Licious!
  • I am Hispanic.

    I have light skin color.

Vitiligo, some days I am OK with it and other days I am not, it depends on my overall mood for the day. However, I mostly deal with it in a positive way.
  • I am Cuban.

Used to be medium/light olive toned, and used to rock a FIERCE tan in the summer.

I am definitely dealing. To be perfectly honest, I haven't seen a derm for this since I was 12 years old. Treatments were generally painful and ineffective. I figured I could spend the rest of my life fighting a never ending battle, or make friends with my enemy. I'm fortunate enough that my natural skin tone can go to a VERY light shade of pale when sun exposure is severely limited, which helps camouflage the white patches.

I'd also like to thank the goth kids of the 90's for making it okay to be the same color as a sheet of paper. The sun bunnies may still give me the side-eye when I show up at the beach wearing a bee keeper suit, but whatever. They will wrinkle long before I will :-P
  • Hispanic
    Fair skin
still suffering.....have around my eyes, elbows and one knee, had spots on both knees, buy my left knee is completely pigmented now....oh and I have a new spot on my underarm....I would love to wear dresses, skirts and shorts in the summer...but I wont :(
  • Does skin color really define a person's race ? Even if you loose your remaining pigmentation you are still black because you were born black so it don't matter what your skin looks like because you are still black, your style, your walk, your talk, you are still black and should always be be proud despite of the vitiligo and remember that song from the late God Father of Soul James Brown "Say it loud I'm black and I'm proud "

    • Back in the day that was one of my favorite dance songs.... "Take it to the Bridge" : ) James Brown had the best dance music,at least my favorite.
    • You are right Carl. But I guess what a lot of us are saying that we love our brown skin.
  • African American; medium brown skin; I am 50% suffering from vit and 50% dealing. I am afraid of losing my original skin color that I love dearly. I am proud of being an African-American and don't want to lose my identity. I didn't realize how much I loved my skin until vitiligo came along.
