I've notice with winter here and the ice cold winds of Boston, that the pale parts of my face are MORE susceptible to the frigid winds then the rest. It's actually very painful like daggers across my forehead and brow, and down the sides of my nose where i have no more pigment.

Has anyone else noticed increased sensitivity? i thought i'd just have to watch out for the sun... the cold is as painful.

thanks

shadow

  • I'm the same way.  If you run your fingers over your skin you can feel the difference in layers. the top layer is thicker and it provides more protection than the underlying layers of skin.  You can get a cold  wind burn just as easy as a sunburn.  You have to protect your skin during both summer and winter  months.

  • ya i def think it has an affect, for me its my face rather than ne other areas....
  • iv always noticed that the sun affects it more, but i'v never noticed any sensitivity to the cold.
    • i only notice it during the icey cold winds. regular cold not so much.  thx
      • hmm i guess i'v never really thought about it. maybe that's why i havent noticed anything. i'll remember it the next time we have cold winds here!
  • hey whats up carl to answer your question about the weather, it sure does have a affect. you see I'm a truck driver here in sunny california and man let me tell you.  when the sun is beaming thru windshield of my truck onto my hands which are in direct contact with the sun the white patches has a tendacy to burn a little.  so i aply this cram the derm. prescribed for me and wear golves to protect my hands. what ever you do protect yourself from elements.
    • hey jimmy,

sun screen... spf - 30+. black people have to learn what paler people have learned since they were kids. the sun isnt always your friend.

since you're driving all the time, you should have a tube of sun screen in your car, one in your truck, more at the house, etc...

      good luck!
