My vit was out of control from the age of 10-15 but since then it hasn't progressed at all. I believe it hasn't progressed due to acupuncture and cupping as treatment. Google 'cupping vitiligo' its practiced by many cultures and some people have great results with it. good luck =)
my son doesnt really want to deal with it much. I just want to find it if there is anything I can do while it is initial stages. right now it is in chest area. pretty much all the doctors we went to said there is nothing that can be done. just accept it.
where did you find a place that does cupping? I am looking for ways to stop the spread. Its been about a year since we found out. I want to try to do something for my 16 year old son while i can. what things have worked? so far he is taking a multivitamin and raw, organic honey and tumeric pills.

Is it possible for you to provide additional clarity on your question.
Questinos such as:
1. Location of Vit. Facial vitiligo is much easier to deal with. There are dozens and dozens of people who found success.
2. Is it on the bony area ? (such as ankles, knees, elbows etc.). Vit on bony areas could take up to 3 times longer than other areas. It is so true. We have first hand experience.
3. We are learning that, vit on fingers is very hard to treat...just do not know why.....
4. Also, inside ear, it takes tooooooooooo long to see any change. I believe, they refer it to something like, cartillage...??
5. Is the vit in initial stages ? If vit is in the initial stages, there are good chances of success. Well established vit is tough to treat. becasue oru Derm told us few times, if you came 1 year late, there was nothign I could do.
Again, vit is so different......depends on person to person.
I made an attempt to share experiences from our journey of 2.5 years. (sounds like 25 years though !)
Second what Nathan is saying, with the exception to the bony area being the knees. I had it on both knees and it had actually been there for a couple of years. One bad bike ride and two skinned knees later, and I was repigmented.
But I wouldn't suggest going out and injuring yourself in the name of repigmentation :-)
ya know, you're not the first person who has re-pigmented after an injury? I heard about this multiple times... i wpnder if any research is being done to that effect.

One suggestion is found on Wikipedia that suggests that Gingko Biloba has shown efficacy in arresting the spread of vitiligo.
Gingko Biloba - helps to promote healthy blood circulation
Careful with Gingko Biloba, many people complain that gingko biloba caused them headaches.
Some other suggestions include eating a healthy diet, regular exercise, or practicing meditation.
Try to avoid drugs such as alcohol or nicotine.
Also, immunosuppressants such as protopic applied to the vit spots may help to slow the spread of vitiligo and in some cases repigment your skin.
for more suggestions, you can also discuss the topic with a dermatologist.
They have all types of ways to get your money

Very good advice. Here is a link to a study done on Vitamin D. http://www.landesbioscience.com/journals/dermatoendocrinology/artic...
My 13 year old daughter is eating properly and taking Vitamin D supplements and the vitiligo is almost all gone.
