Hello Vitiligo Friends,

I'm just wondering whether you keep protecting your vitiligo from sunlight or not? I have given up the protection for a long time ago. To be honest, it was really boring to take care every day such as putting UV protective sun creams on, wearing sunglasses or even staying in.

  • Since skin cancer is in my family I usually do especially during midday. The depigmented skin has no natural protection. So I stay with mineral sunscreens and spf bb creams. Also if you're really serious about it you can get spf arm guards from sporting goods sites etc. so easy to put on and off. I used to protect because I was afraid of the uneven skin but since I've accepted that I just do it for safety now.
  • I have the same dilemma. Actualy one of mine close friends who had vitiligo, after couple of days at sea, got burned, but soon after that his pigment has turned back. But I am so afraid of exposing myself to sun, only because I am not sure if vitiligo will become vorse after that...

  • Sunlight is actually good for vitiligo which is before 10 am and after 3 pm. I always were full hand t shirt when I am out in the sun during peak time and have my sunglasses on.
    • I am really sorry to hear that , mine doesn't hurt and I have been grown in South part of India where I used to play cricket from childhood during summer @ 42 c . the same when I was in USA and now in china . I don't apply any sunscreens and love to get basked in sun when ever possible .

I did hear that ppl with our condition has problem with sun . wish you speedy recovery .....
    • I expose to sunlight when ever I get a chance , sunlight is definetly boosts up in repigmenting in my case , I am not sure about others .
