After having treated several thousands of cases of vitiligo, of all types and varieties, from over 110 countries, we have seen that certain cases of vitiligo are more difficult to treat and some of them can be labelled as incurable with medical treatment. The overall response in these cases is not very encouraging and the repigmentation may not be all that good in such patients. The curability depends on several factors such as the location, extent, duration of vitiligo, family history of vitiligo and the treatment taken in the past for the same. The following are few of the common examples of cases (based on location of vitiligo) which do not show favourable response to medical treatment:
Corners of the lips and eyes Tips of the fingers and toes Spots on the genitals Spots over bony prominences of the body Widespread affection of the skin with Vitiligo

Hello:
My Vitiligo started at age 42 and I am now 68. At one point my body was 95% white. My face has changed 3 times, now my face is almost brown but darker than I was. I still have loss of color around my eyes and lips.
I lived in New York most of my life. I moved to South Carolina, Florida and am now in Delaware. Most of my changes in the first stages was New York and now in Delaware my color is coming back but only in my face. No doctor has been able to explain this.
Just summarizing our experiences plus reading plus Dermatologist opinion as well:
I read about success reg lips and eyes. Definitely know that medicine does work on eyes.
Do not know about genitals.
Defnitely know that bony areas are treatable. They take looooooooooooonger.
I read that fingers and toes are very hard. We have no luck so far. Loooks like, they are impossible to treat. impossible with topical therapy
