  • So i have a apt with the derm on the 17th so im goin to c wht they have to say..Iv been talk to my bf bout goin threw w depigmentation and he's not for it,he ses if he happy w me thats all that should matter,it does matter wht he thinks but he doesnt no how it feels to b this way..(im a waitress and alot of ppl look at my hands and one day as im walkn away from table a person at the table ses out loud whts tht all over her hands)and if he loves me like he ses he does it shouldnt matter..but if the doc give me the thumbs up for it ima do it,but (question)when u start useing it does it leave more patches whre ure applying the or does it fade evenly?:?????thts wht im leary about and kinda scared...but wen and if do start depigmentation ill just spray tan..
    • that was my concern.... i was hoping that the color leaves evenly like in shades and fades but from reading the posts and speaking to my doctor, it can do both, leave in patches and fade... that makes me leary too especially on my face where it may get to a point where make-up does no good for a period of time and that will really, really suck! LOL
    • Hi Raya, so far after one month of 20% monobenzone cream use, it is fading my brown skin to a light brown evenly. if what my doctor say happens I should completely depigment within months. Good luck on what ever you finally decide.
      • thanx for the info helps with my desision alot thanx..hope all goes well...keep me informed on ur progress...
  • I had vitilgo that covered over 80% of my body.I am white american but had a very dark complexion,so the vitiligo was very apparent on me.After alot of different treatments,I opted to bleach my skin, with doctor's approvel.I used a product called Benoquin. My skin is now completely white,a chalk white. If you are thinking of doing this, please tallk to your doctor, this is permanent! Also changing your skin for me was a major deal.I sometimes don't even get recognized by people I went to school with.I't has been a total lifestyle change for me,wearing sunscreen everyday and limiting sun exposure is no fun.All said,I would rather be chalk white ,then have huge white blotches all over my body. Also over the counter stuff probably won't work and I think Beoquin is no longer made.
    • Hi,

I'm have vitiligo on about 20% of my body, i'll be starting depigmentaion on huly 30th. I have light skin as is; for me I think it's the right treatment. They still make benoquin; thank God!!!
      • Wow, and your doc is fine with this? Didn't he at least referred you to a psychologist? Usually depigmentation is recommended as a last resort and when it's very extended.
        • I liked what you said about being referred to a psychologist.I depigmented 9 years ago. I don't think most people realize how depressing depigmenting your skin can be.The darker you are the more drastic it is to go completely white.I am almost chalk white and have almost black hair.I reallly stand out.I thought living with spots all over my body was bad,but after nine years of depression I am still trying to accept my skin color.
          • hi misty.. do you think my doctor would allow me to depigment my skin even if my spots are just on my face?? i badly wanted to be of one color..
