I'm about 90 percent depigmented due to Vitiligo and now I'm interested in depigmenting myself the natural color I have left. Which is on my face, back, and small areas on calves and thighs. I visited my dermatologist, who from the moment he seen me offered me the depigmentation option. The only thing was that from what I have been told the pharmacy that was carrying the cream to depigment basically was not making sales and no longer carry's it. So I was sent to a pharmacy in PA who they say makes a compound called Hydroquinone to depigment. They filled my prescription and I received it via UPS today. The only issue is now that I'm scared to use it because I've never met anyone who has ever depigmented with this lotion. Does any one have any info? Regarding actually using this lotion to depigment? any side effects? how long it took to actually work? ETC. ETC. Any info would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks

Thanks, Tom! I want to start a support group in Michigan. I'm not sure how to post that on this site, but I'm thinking the first meeting should be after the holiday season.
Congrats! I would just post it here as a main forum topic. I know of a member who has frequently linked his book and site. I don't believe Steve Hargadon would mind at all, Jackie. You could check with him to be certain.
Steve is brilliant and very generous with his resources.
The reason you're not seeing anything is because hydroquinone will not finish it off. Are you sure that is the correct name of the medication? Also, please let me know the % stated on the tube. There is a lot of ignorance among physicians regarding depigmentation treatment. I became an expert in this area in a quest to help myself . I don;'t wear makeup because I'm one color, and I have been one color for eight years -- no one even guesses I'm depigmented. Furthermore, you should not be experiencing infections secondary to depigmentation treatment. I'm very concerned about what you're reporting.
Hi Jackie, its been 8 years since this condition, it started with lots of skin rashes , all over my body , for months then came the depigment, started from my feet -up, the most horrible experience ever had,(don't know why) Herbalist was sceard to touch me , Dotors was baffeled, didn't know what iit was eventually most of my top layer was gone, it stoped on the front part of my face. I have been to many Dermatalagy confrances wrere I met overall 200 and more doctors . How ever I do have a team of Doctors and a hospital that I go to in NYC. I do have infections from time to time so even the makeup I cant always use. cant go into too much details . The hydro cream I think was 4or5% ialso useMonobenzone 15%
I'm sorry that you've fallen in the wrong hands. Your current treatment is not appropriate, and it breaks my heart that you are needlessly suffering. .
In about a month, I'll have a website up talking about my experience with and knowledge of depigmentation. I hope you stumble upon the site. As you know, I can't provide my contact information here per the guidelines of Vitiligo Friends.
yes I am also 90-95% depigmented and I have uses Hydro for a very short time , very expencive also and I saw no results, about 3 months then stoped.I am in a similar situation, iam trying to go with the colour that I have more of which is oviously not my original colour, I have no choice , iam not going to stand in front a mirror and paint my whole body. How ever my Dermatalagis recommended two types of make-up : Dermablend and micro skin . I have tried doth . You can look up Micro Skin very expencive and also look into Dermablend.. (sometimes I get very frustrated, But this is something we have todeal with) I see my Dermatalagist every month , to deal with lots of infectiions that comes along as a result of my depig. ) You know this condition has made me very strong, and I sure have a different take on life.
Mike, you look amazing, and your hair color is as you say - beautiful.
Thank you for sharing this information with me, and your experience. Most importantly, you mention that this has made you very strong. This is the most important information of all.
