Most of my body is unaffected by vitiligo except for my chest, hands, wrists and thighs- but most of those are pretty small spots. My face on the other hand is covered with vitiligo, to the point where i think i can safely say it will be depigmented completely pretty soon.I've lived with most of the spots on my face for like 6 yrs and they have been quite resistant to everything pretty much. I tried steroid creams as usual, sun bathing, natural treatments and even change in diet  I don't have the money for laser treatments and im certainly not going to pay tons of money for something that might not even work or be long lasting. The vitiligo on the rest of my body however is starting to actively spread, ive started getting patches on my neck, sides and back now. I've been considering depigmentation for 3 yrs now, and i think 3 yrs is a pretty good amount of time to think about it and make that decision. What im wondering however is if i could still begin depigmenting if my body isn't currently covered in patches but my face is? It's going to spread either way and it's already spreading slowly. Does anyone have any advice or info on this? Also i would like to add that it has been significantly distressing to me, would that affect the decision of a derm to help me out?

  • From what I read In past discussion post on this site, it seems like you can begin depigmentation whenever you want. Some derms say no but people have kept meeting with derms until they found one who was willing. I read a whole forum of people who depigmented and all four of them were less than 50% covered. Two of them just ordered the creams online without prescription and just started the process. Go back and search discussions from 2010.
  • Hi! What are the requirements to qualify for depigmentation and the process?
