Bodybuilding!

Hi Everyone,

I always wanted to do Bodybuilding and also now planning to go to gym. Please advise is it okay for us to go to gym and do bodybuilding workout as i have talked to a dermatologist and he said it is fine.

What are your view in that?

  • yeah take the risks into consideration well flavio is also trying to help well another thing is yeah joint pressure increases vitiligo(maybe). looking at that way it means u cant play instruments, or be a gamer cos well... and even work has pressure too.. take flavios advice into consideration... my opinion well as a sufferer like you i can sit back and fear and do my best to prevent but.. i will be the one losing out on things so just fuck it and live your life do what you want.. i am a parkour practitioner so i have a lot pressure and friction too but hey no pain no gain unless if we can untrigger it which is hard and u will take a lifetime and u live in fear so let love guide u and not fear take cares

    • Tough but true.

If it's just an option,  make the right decision.  If it's not, let it be.

Regarding joint presure, you don't need to go that far.  Just texting messages (cell phone) stimulates vitiligo in the hand joints, specially in the thumbs and index finger (forefinger).

      • there he said it! :) thanks for proving the point flavio

  • I work out pretty intensely 5 to 6 days a week...I also box 3 to 4 days a week..from what I can tell, there has been no change in my vitiligo...it also has seemed stable this whole time..been doing this routine for about 2 years now.....do what you love!
    • Hi John,

thanks for the support. i also know a guy who has vitiligo and continuously doing workout for almost 5 years and his vitiligo is still stable.

      • im not an expert by any means not even close

but i believe our vitiligo some times is active and some times is not active

when is not active no matter what you do you are not getting more white patches

and the opposite happens when your vitiligo is active  just the littlest thing you do will most likely end up in white patches

flavio is a good guy he is just trying to help everyone with all his knowledge

    • John.

It's true that vitiligo patches may stabilize for many reasons.  However,  joint stress/damage is one serious cause of vitiligo, followed by physycal traumas/friction, oxidative stress, and stress hormones (psycho and emotional issues).

This explains why there are so much concentration of vitiligo patches around joint hands, for instance.

This research is brand-new, and probably that's why we've  been reading about correlation between RA medicines and vitiligo.

      • Hi Flavio,

Is there a any way so that i can do bodybuilding and also make the vitiligo stable.

        • Bodybuilding is not going to cause vitiligo for sure.  It's just one big stressor.

If you love it, take the risk into consideration.

If it's just an option, discard it.  Do something else.  Why to take the risk?

  • you should do it

go to the gym became a bodybuilder dont let your skin condition stop you .. follow your dreams ..life is too short
