One time I was shaving my beard and I got a small cut on my face, and I said too my self "Here comes a new Vitiligo patch" because everytime I get cut a new spot of Vitiligo forms on that cut in the shape of that cut, in January I was diagonsed with heart failure and I was like Oh my God I can't believe this first Vitiligo now heart failure and a few days after the diagnosis of heart failure I had to get operation to get a ICD (Implantable Cardiac Device) put into my chest too make my heart continue to beat at the right pace, I immediately noticed on my chest where the doctors made the incision that it was white because of my Vitiligo does anybody notice new Vitiligo patches that are in the shape of the injury or cut that you had?

I have noticed the same thing. Anytime, I get a small cut while shaving my legs, I notice that my skin eventually loses it's pigment. The same thing occurs with scratches. The other day, I was trying to pick up one of my cats so I can put him into the cat carrier to take him to the Vet, he scratched me on the chest and now I have Vitiligo on the entire scratch, it is just so frustrating...

Nelly I know exactly how you feel, I dread getting a new scratch or cut because the new vitiligo patch is in the shape of the cut !!!
Same here! I was trying to get out of my bro-in-laws cluttered garage and scrapped my leg with about a 10 inch cut and huge vit spot remains. I had to get a damn tetanus shot and 30 stitches that day. :{
I've had Vitiligo since 1980 or so and every ding, knick and cut are now white. It does spread during times of extreme stress...I'm here to vouch for that, so please take care of yourself.

Hey Cliff I hate getting a new scratch or cut but because I play so vigoriously with my young kids I often find myself getting scratched or bruised especially when we play football and there's new Vitiligo patches everytime I turn around
I'm the same, that's how it all started for me when I was 5. My spots appeared on my knees and elbows high impact areas when you're small. Same goes for now, mostly just cuts and scrapes sometimes bruises but only deep ones. Also I have spots in very high movement areas with lots of muscles like around eyes, mouth, and neck and torso. I'm thinking these are there because of all the repetitive action in these muscle groups.
I was told that the basis of our auto immune disorder was that your white blood cells see your pigment or melanoma as a foreign substance. So it's only when they white blood cells come up to the surface to heal (such as when you have a cut) that it attacks our pigment, they we loose it and a white spot appears.
If I look at my spots in this way, I can usually recall every ouch I ever got :S
Hey, I've noticed the same thing. I hate getting any cuts. I recently got 2 while camping! arghh! One of them seems to be healing ok and getting its color back, but the second cut is taking longer to heal and it seems to want to stay white. By the way, they are both on my legs... oh well....
