Hi everyone
Can somebody please help, I am growing a beard to try to hide my Vitiligo and I was going to dye it as the hairs are all pure white but wasn't sure if 1 this is a good idea. I dont want to make it worse as its a foreign body against my skin and 2 if it is a good idea can anyone recommend a dye ?
Many thanks
Paul

I usually make a cup of tea, brew it for a good five mins then use that in the mix (obviously no milk in it!) and also a bit of cider vinegar too, there is a reason for that but can’t remember it... I’m sure the henna comes with quite in depth instructions too, so should explain in there.
And yeah, I’ve had vitiligo for about 3 years now. There’s not any cure, but I’ve had some success with a cream called Tacrolymis, which is an immunosuppressive thing, but had to get it from the dermatologist as GPs can’t prescribe it. It’s also not licenced specifically for vitiligo, I think it’s an eczema treatment, so you’d have to ask directly for it, but it did return some of the skin pigment around my eyes, so I’m just using it daily now on my face...
Can definitely recommend the tacrolymis though, not a time-consuming treatment like UV therapy or whatever, but up to you how much you care about your patches and how much you’d like to try and rid them, but there’s no guarantees! It took my a while to mentally get adjusted to having vitiligo, but I’m probably accustomed to having it now...

Hi Paul,
I know where you're coming from! My vitiligo originally left my beard hair untouched, but now I've got two patches either side of my chin.
I use this henna-based beard dye (https://uk.iherb.com/pr/Rainbow-Research-Henna-Hair-Color-Condition...), and have used it pretty much for the last two years. It can be a bit time-consuming though, I do two coats of it and give them both 45 minutes to soak in. But I think you quickly get used to that, if you want colour in the beard!
It's tends to work a bit better too if your beard is on the longer side, when it's short/stubbly it kind of just dyes a patch of skin.
I occasionally use Just for Men too when I am a bit short on time/get caught out with white starting to show through... but I don't think I'd make a habit of using it.
I've also used Grizzly Mountain Beard Dye, but I don't think it's quite as good as the Rainbow Research Henna dye.
Hope this helps!
