I wanted to pass on an information. We are consulting ayurvedic doctors for my husband's case and the first thing he told us was to avoid eating eggplant (along with red meat and sour things - which I knew about). But he emphasised the eggplant. We eat a lot of eggplant and I wanted just pass on the information. We haven't started the treatment yet, just got all this information over the phone even before we start the treatment. Will keep you posted if anything good comes out of it!!

I don't believe that eating eggplant will aggravate vitiligo unless it is the mainstay of your diet because then it would support the theory that people with vitiligo are low in certain vitamins and minerals which would be the case if you are eating eggplant in lieu of other vegetables. Still, if not eating it works then go for it. As for drinking soda, I never drink soda, never have. I still got vitiligo. Again, if you are drinking soda instead of juice, milk etc. then you might be deficient in vitamins and minerals. Nutritional balance is important. But, who knows. The "experts" sure don't, otherwise none of us would be writing on this site.
Eventually we probably will have to avoid eating everything - right now they say avoid sour things, spicy stuff, fish, milk or milk products, etc. etc. now eggplant? what's next!!! No one knows for sure - everyone is just trying to EXPERIMENT !!!

I don't think we should eliminate the eggplant. I have a chance to check the nutrition about it. I found aggplant is good for ours.Especially for Vit. I often eat it. it could cure my skin. Try it.
that is correct, there are a lot of restrictions diet wise, which one may or maynot adhere to. In our case my husband wants to strictly follow the diet restrictions and also we were consuming a lot of eggplant, I decided the least I can do is cut down if not eliminate it. But the diet does play an important role, since a few of his spots (very small ones) have vanished after he eliminated soda, coffee and red meat. So we want to stick to the diet part of it and I wanted to pass the info along!!

Wow Jaqulin. I wasn't aware of avoiding soda. I had cut out soda for a while and I did notice that my spots seemed to be diminishing or atleast maintaining. But, I've started drinking them again and I didn't realize that they may be contribution to my vit spreading. Thanx for the info.
